Exhibition on Portuguese Architecture Inaugurated by Dr. Sandeep Marwah and Ambassador of Portugal at India Habitat Centre. New Delhi: An exclusive Exhibition of Architecture from Portugal was inaugurated at the India Habitat Centre by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chair for the Indo Portugal Film and Cultural Forum, along with H.E. João Manuel Mendes Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal to India. The exhibition was organised by renowned Architect Rajinder Kumar in association with the Embassy of Portugal and Camões – Portuguese Cultural Centre, in collaboration with prominent Indian architects, to commemorate 50 years of renewed diplomatic relations between India and Portugal.

The exhibition brought together a large number of distinguished architects and design professionals who showcased their works inspired by Portuguese styles, traditions, and architectural influences. The event celebrated the cultural synergy between the two nations, highlighting the historic and contemporary exchange of architectural ideas.

While inaugurating the exhibition and lighting the ceremonial lamp, Dr. Sandeep Marwah expressed his admiration for the timeless elegance of Portuguese architecture. He said, “Architecture is the most visible form of culture — it reflects not only beauty and functionality but also the spirit of collaboration between nations. The India–Portugal architectural connection is a living example of creativity transcending borders.”

H.E. João Manuel Mendes Ribeiro de Almeida, Ambassador of Portugal to India, in his address, appreciated the participation of Indian architects and the effort to strengthen cultural and artistic ties. He remarked, “Architecture is a bridge between our past and future. This exhibition beautifully illustrates the shared heritage and mutual respect between Portugal and India.”

Architect Rajinder Kumar and Architect Jimmy Mistry the participants of the exhibition, emphasized the significance of cross-cultural architectural dialogues and sustainable design practices that draw inspiration from traditional forms. The exhibition offered visitors a visual journey through Portugal’s architectural evolution and its influence on Indian design landscapes, fostering deeper appreciation for the two countries’ shared artistic and cultural heritage.
